Entry #1: What Do Business Owners Want To Know

Dear Diary,

It is 15th May 2026.

I’m not really sure what to start with, honestly. The words that are printed here are just words that are falling off of my head and onto my hands, so it might just be a messy beginning.

But I guess all beginnings are messy, just like the start of any business. Just like the start of my business.

The thing about sharing knowledge with people right after your first business has failed seems to be a bad idea. After all, I only have about 1.5 years of business expertise at my disposal, and maybe 2 years of commercial awareness from working in an SME.

There is a worry that others may not trust my word or find me a reliable source of information.

Though, what I hope I can provide for readers is a source of strength: a way to be vulnerable and put myself out there, so that others have the permission to be vulnerable as well.

I have learnt in my 26 years of existing on this planet that it is more powerful and more brave to be vulnerable than to keep it all in and push forward solo. The former is a great way to show the human side of you, while the latter just amplifies the struggle that we are going through.

The tough thing about being vulnerable is that even though it helps you to connect with well-meaning and like-minded people, it also makes you an easy target for demeaning comments and malicious people.

Sometimes, those people are the ones closest to you.

But enough about them, this is about you and me, and the dream we want to build. We business owners have a lot on our plate, and any added weight can tear us down in an instance.

This is not a simple task, and definitely not for the light-hearted.

So while the words fall onto my hands and start to print on this page, I believe that I can bring at least a small snippet of my journey into view for you to watch.

A little window into my journey of building a business after failing one (did I mention that my business is failing as we speak? Like, right now I am 3 months away from an expired lease and still being required to run the shop even though I know that all of this will be coming to and end soon)

There will be entries about great joys, and of course entries with struggles and sorrows. It will be a very real story, and hopefully you will find that all of us share the same struggle, and also the same vulnerability.

Just so you know, this is much easier for me to really get words out of my head as compared to the long form posts that you see around the site, so expect some silly typing to it hehe.

Till the next entry, keep growing.
